Ceremony held in Miami on January 15
Windstar Cruises has held a christening ceremony in Miami for its newest all-suite yacht, Star Seeker.
Libby Anschutz, the daughter of Windstar’s owner Phil Anschutz, acted as godmother at the event on January 15 by giving a speech and formally naming the 224-passenger vessel as she smashed a champagne bottle against the hull.
Windstar Cruises president Christopher Prelog and Captain Tom Schofield, who will serve on board the first new-build vessel in the Star Class, also gave speeches.
Following the ceremony, Star Seeker departed on an eight-night sailing to San Juan, with ports of call in the Dominican Republic and the British Virgin Islands.
The yacht will then sail in the Caribbean, Alaska, Japan and southeast Asia.
Star Seeker’s sister ship Star Explorer is set to debut in December 2026, with its christening due to take place in London in June 2027, with Libby Anschutz’s sister Nancy serving as godmother.
