Hyatt Hotels’ newly appointed interim global brand leader for luxury has said the group’s portfolio is “alive with possibility” ahead of its 2026 openings.
Tamara Lohan – co-founder of luxury hotel platform Mr & Mrs Smith – said she was “excited” to “guide Hyatt’s global luxury brand strategy” after assuming her new role in December 2025.
Hyatt’s luxury portfolio - which includes Park Hyatt, Alila, Miraval, Impression by Secrets and The Unbound Collection by Hyatt - features nearly 125 properties and continues to expand “strategically”.
Lohan told Aspire: “From Park Hyatt’s refined, celebratory approach to elegance, to Miraval’s deep commitment to wellbeing, Alila’s connection to culture and nature, and the story-rich, one-of-a-kind properties that define The Unbound Collection, each brand offers a distinct and meaningful expression of luxury.”
Miraval The Red Sea on Saudi Arabia’s Shura Island development will open in Q1 of 2026. The 180-key adult-only resort will be the wellness-focused brand’s first outside the US, and will feature the largest spa in the Red Sea.
Multiple Park Hyatt properties are due to open in 2026, including Park Hyatt Cabo del Sol, Park Hyatt Cancun, Park Hyatt Mexico City, Park Hyatt Vancouver and Park Hyatt Phu Quoc, alongside the reopening of Park Hyatt Tokyo.
Alila Mayakoba on Mexico’s Riviera Maya will open early this year, while Kennedy 89 in Frankfurt, Germany, will be the latest opening for the Unbound Collection by Hyatt.
Hyatt’s president and chief executive Mark Hoplamazian said: “Hyatt’s momentum in luxury continues to accelerate, powered by our insights-driven development strategy and commitment to delivering deeply resonant guest experiences.
“Lohan brings world-class luxury expertise, and her leadership will further strengthen our ability to differentiate our luxury brands while growing with intent in the markets our guests and owners value most.”
She said her experience leading Mr & Mrs Smith for more than two decades would see her apply her “deep expertise in personalisation, global luxury trends and consumer insights” to Hyatt’s luxury growth.
She added: “The UK is especially significant to me, both personally and professionally. I’m based here and have built Mr & Mrs Smith in this market. I know just how influential the UK is in influencing global luxury travel conversations.
“Hyatt’s luxury presence here and in Europe continues to grow, and properties such as Park Hyatt London River Thames and Great Scotland Yard Hotel bring Hyatt’s vision of luxury to life through design, character and a strong sense of place.”
