Itineraries include ‘flagship’ sailings to Svalbard and fjord system Scoresbysund
Expedition cruise line Secret Atlas has launched its 2027 Arctic programme, including visits to Svalbard and the world’s largest fjord system Scoresbysund.
Each voyage hosts 12 guests and is designed to access remote parts of the Arctic. The operator says the small vessel size allows sailings to visit more fjords and waterways compared to larger ships, with “maximum exploration and minimal impact”.
During the 2027 summer season, Secret Atlas will operate two 12-day Svalbard Circumnavigation Micro Cruises departing on July 28 and August 15.
Starting from £14,800pp, this itinerary will visit the “remotest reaches” of Svalbard, including the Austfonna ice cap. During the summer months, guests will have the chance to spot walruses and polar bears.
The Svalbard and Greenland Summer Micro Cruise leads in at £18,995pp for 14 days, incorporating a visit to Svalbard with a tour of the “cathedral-sized icebergs” in Scoresbysund, east Greenland.
Sailing on August 8, this itinerary will offer the chance to view Arctic wildlife including musk ox, Arctic foxes, Arctic hares, polar bears and narwhals.
Both itineraries include full-board meals and beverages, Starlink Wi-Fi, land and water activities, rubber sole boots, insulation suits and local transfers.
Secret Atlas says the voyages are an “ideal setting” for couples and solo travellers, and private charter options would suit family trips.
Michele D’Agostino, the line’s co-founder, said: “Our new 2027 season is built on the belief that ’small’ means ’more’ – more flexibility, more shore time and a much smaller environmental footprint.
“With just 12 guests on board MV Vikingfjord and MV Freya, our new voyages offer access to remote areas inaccessible to the larger cruise ships. It’s high-impact exploration while enjoying the comfort of our purpose-built expedition vessels.”
