Openings strengthen group’s presence in ‘priority resort destinations across the Mediterranean’
Minor Hotels has acquired two properties in Croatia and Slovenia, marking the group’s debuts in both destinations.
From February 12, the group will assume management of Hotel Palace Portorož in Slovenia and Adriatic Istria Resort in Croatia before they reopen for the 2026 season in late March.
The properties will then undergo “extensive” refurbishment programmes and relaunch under Minor Hotels’ Anantara and Minor Reserve Collection sub-brands in Q1 of 2027.
In the Slovenian resort town of Portorož, Hotel Palace Portorož (pictured) is a 183-key property that features three restaurants, three bars, a spa and indoor and outdoor pools. It also offers direct beach access and a dedicated Mice (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) area.
It will relaunch as Hotel Palace Portorož, Minor Reserve Collection Slovenia next year.
Elsewhere on Europe’s Adriatic coast, Adriatic Istria Resort is set on Croatia’s Istrian peninsula. The property has 186 rooms, three restaurants, four bars, a Mice area, full-service spa, direct beach access and indoor and outdoor pools. It’s also home to an 18-hole golf course that runs along the coastline.
The property will relaunch as Anantara Adriatic Istria Resort early next year, when Anantara’s signature hallmarks and experiences will be introduced.
Dillip Rajakarier, Minor Hotels chief executive, said: “The decision to accelerate our presence in central and southeastern Europe is driven by strong tourism growth and rising demand for distinctive luxury hospitality experiences.”
