Brand will launch a year-long programme including photo exhibition and flagship event
Mauritian hotel group Sunlife has unveiled plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its La Pirogue resort.
The property on the island’s west coast first opened its doors on June 7, 1976, and has since become “synonymous with authentic Mauritian hospitality”.
To mark the anniversary, the resort will pay tribute to “its heritage, its teams, its loyal guests and the living culture that has shaped its soul for half a century”.
The programme of celebrations will include a photo exhibition in the resort’s gardens displaying pictures from its archives, employee testimonials to share “the story of La Pirogue” and an exclusive cookbook of 50 recipes, which will be published on June 7.
There will also be a series of stories from loyal guests shared on the resort’s digital platforms each month.
The celebrations will culminate in a flagship event held at La Pirogue on December 1, bringing together tour operators, members of the press and local and international partners.
Sunlife’s cluster general manager for the west coast Jean-Marc Ma-Poon said: “For nearly 50 years, La Pirogue has embodied sincere and resolutely human hospitality, shaped as much by its teams as by its loyal guests. I am proud to launch the 50th anniversary celebrations of La Pirogue, an iconic resort of the west coast and of the Mauritian destination as a whole.”
