The property will reopen on July 1
Africa specialist andBeyond’s Phinda Vlei Lodge in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal has closed to undergo a refurbishment.
The property is expected to reopen on July 1, 2026.
The lodge’s six suites will be expanded with larger bedrooms and sitting areas, redesigned bathrooms and the addition of outdoor showers and covered pool salas.
The property’s main guest area will welcome a library.
A statement from the brand said: “Every architectural and design choice is being guided by the lodge’s unique surroundings and the insights of returning guests, ensuring Phinda Vlei feels both comfortingly familiar and beautifully renewed.”
The property’s redesign will place sustainability at the forefront, utilising responsibly and locally sourced materials, which will offer support for nearby economies and minimise transport emissions.
Guests at andBeyond Phinda Vlei Lodge can enjoy twice-daily game drives, guided bush walks, sand forest e-biking, community visits and conservation activities that support rhino, elephant and pangolin research.
Managing director for andBeyond’s South Africa Lodges, Kevin Pretorius, said: “Phinda Vlei Lodge has always been a place that feels as though it reveals itself to those who seek it. This refurbishment enhances comfort, space and privacy, allowing guests to slow down and truly belong to the landscape.
“It is more than a renovation. It’s a re-examination of what comfort and connection mean in the wild.”
The lodge’s closure follows the refurbishment of South African sister property andBeyond Phinda Zuka Lodge, which reopened in December.
