AmaSofia is first vessel to showcase line’s updated branding
AmaWaterways has celebrated the christening of its newest ship AmaSofia at a ceremony with more than 1,200 travel agents.
The event took place in Amsterdam on March 14 and saw the vessel officially christened by its godmother Sarah Little, senior vice-president of business development at the American Society of Travel Advisors, followed by a 300-drone light show over the Rhine.
AmaSofia is the first ship to showcase the line’s refreshed branding and colours in Europe.
In April and May, the vessel will operate itineraries on the Rhine, including the line’s popular Rhine Castles & Swiss Alps sailing.
In June, AmaSofia will reposition to the Danube, with its first Danube departure scheduled for June 7. It will operate several popular itineraries throughout the year including Romantic Danube, Melodies of the Danube and Christmas Markets on the Danube, primarily sailing between Budapest and Vilshofen.
Catherine Powell, AmaWaterways chief executive, said: “Ships come to life through people, from the crew who pour pride into every detail, the guests who celebrate life’s moments on board to the travel advisors who inspire those journeys in the first place.
“We are especially honoured to have Sarah Little serve as godmother of AmaSofia. Her leadership and advocacy for travel advisors represent everything we value as a company, and it feels incredibly meaningful to have her guide AmaSofia into her future surrounded by so many members of the advisor community.”
AmaWaterways also encourages agents from around the world to come on board the ship to experience its offering and refreshed branding.
