Nine lodges in Tanzania join portfolio in ‘next chapter of brand’s evolution’
Luxury hotel group Auberge Collection is set to expand into Africa with the launch of a dedicated safari arm.
Nine properties across Tanzania will join the group’s portfolio under Auberge Safari.
The launch unites two East African safari operators, Legendary Expeditions and Chem Chem Safari, offering travellers the opportunity to book “an unrivalled journey across Tanzania”.
Among the additions are two properties in the Greater Mwiba Protected Wildlife Area, as well as three in Burunge Wildlife Management Area.
Also joining the portfolio are two lodges in the northern Serengeti, a 12-cottage outpost set within a century-old working coffee estate, and a six-key property in the Serengeti’s western corridor, known as ‘lion country’.
Each of the properties will retain its “own distinct character”, while “honouring Auberge Collection’s signature approach to soulful, place-driven hospitality”.
Guests will enjoy “meaningful connections” with the living traditions of local communities, as well as the chance to witness the Great Migration at every stage of its journey.
Auberge Collection’s chairman Dan Friedkin said: “Legendary Expeditions has long set the standard for conservation-driven safari experiences, and Auberge Collection brings an equally strong commitment to place and purpose.
“Together, they represent a meaningful evolution – one that strengthens our ability to protect these landscapes, while offering guests a more connected way to explore them.”
The group’s president and chief executive Christian Clerc added: “Auberge is deeply honoured to become part of the Friedkin family’s longstanding commitment to Tanzania, its wilderness and its people. For more than four decades, their stewardship has preserved critical ecosystems, where wildlife can move freely and nature remains whole.
“We share their belief that true success here is measured by what endures. Safari strips away the inessential and reconnects us to something profoundly simple, rare and truly magical. We are honoured to welcome these nine extraordinary camps and lodges into the world of Auberge.”
