Wilderness will open 10-guest safari camp Wilderness Magashi Peninsula in a private concession of Rwanda’s Akagera National Park this autumn.
Available for exclusive hire, the camp will comprise two twin rooms opening on September 26 and a four-bedroom villa debuting on October 1, all located within 200 metres of each other.
Every room offers a private plunge pool and views of the reserve. The site also features an en suite room to be used as a gym, office or children’s space for up to six people.
The property provides access to varied habitats across Akagera National Park – central Africa’s largest protected wetland and Rwanda’s only area dedicated to the protection of savannah species.
Manzi Kayihura, Wilderness Rwanda’s executive director, said: “Akagera is a place of extraordinary beauty and ecological importance, and this new launch deepens our commitment to celebrating and preserving Rwanda’s enthralling savannah safari experience.
“Here, guests can observe lions, rhinos, elephants and other iconic species in their natural habitat, while directly supporting their conservation through meaningful engagement.”
During stays, guests can experience personalised guiding during game drives or wildlife spotting aboard a swamp cruiser.
They can also opt for private dining experiences, outdoor sleep-outs, catch-and-release fishing, sunset cruises and a range of wellness treatments.
The property is powered by solar energy, and aims to support local conservation through predator monitoring, invasive plant management and educational programmes for local conservationists.
Kayihura added: “As we eagerly await the arrival of our first guests this September, the camp provides a unique chance to fully immerse in an unforgettable safari experience, while actively contributing to the ongoing success of vital conservation efforts in one of Africa’s most pristine wilderness areas.
“It will stand as a powerful symbol of the resilience of nature and our unwavering commitment to preserving this extraordinary landscape for future generations."
Wilderness Magashi Peninsula will join sister property Wilderness Magashi as well as other Wilderness Rwanda camps Bistate Lodge, Bistate Reserve and Sabyinyo.
