Sustainable hotel collection Beyond Green added 10 properties in Q2 this year, including three returning hotels and two new destinations.
The directory was launched by Preferred Travel Group in 2021 for properties that fulfil more than 100 sustainability indicators, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The portfolio now includes nearly 60 hotels, resorts and lodges across 24 countries.
Villa Dahlia in Stockholm marks the first Swedish entry into the portfolio. The 103-key property, which opened in September 2024, is designed with energy-efficiency in mind, and champions menus using local ingredients to reduce food miles. The company also contributes to causes including the Childhood Foundation and Stockholm LGBT.
The first founding member of the portfolio that has returned to the list is Vermejo, a Ted Turner Reserve in Raton, New Mexico. Set within 550,000 acres of protected wilderness, the property focuses on “large-scale wildlife restoration and ecosystem regeneration” including the repopulation of rare American bison and hands-on riverbank restoration with guests.
The second returning property is Blancaneaux Lodge from The Coppola Family Getaways, set in Belize’s Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve. The 20-room eco-luxury retreat is built with local materials and natural landscaping to minimise water use, and is powered by energy from a nearby hydroelectric plant.
Also in Belize and owned by The Coppola Family Getaways, the final hotel reinstated on the list is Turtle Inn in Placencia. The 25-room seafront property contributes to the protection of biodiversity in the nearby Belize Barrier Reef Unesco World Heritage Site and also supports scholarships for local children.
As part of Beyond Green’s partnership with andBeyond, the brand’s property on Benguerra Island in the Bazaruto Archipelago is the first hotel in Mozambique to join the portfolio.
Five other andBeyond properties have also joined the collection: Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge in Tanzania; Chobe Under Canvas and Savute Under Canvas in Botswana’s Chobe National Park; and Ngala Safari Lodge and Tented Camp in the South African Ngala Private Game Reserve.
Beyond Green said the additions represent an expansion of its offering as it continues to grow and “scale meaningful, positive change”.
