Red Savannah is to offer tailor-made journeys in South Korea for the first time as it expands its portfolio in Asia.
The luxury tour operator said the launch was in response to increased demand, with enquiries to the destination more than doubling in the past 12 months, and the number of UK and US visitors increasing by 22% year-on-year.
Red Savannah’s destination experts attribute the rise in interest to "a growing Western interest in Korean culture, cuisine, and cinema, fuelled by the Korean Wave (K-Pop, K-dramas, K-beauty)”, with South Korea becoming a “sought-after alternative to Japan”.
The operator’s “immersive" itineraries will take in the capital of Seoul, the ancient city of Gyeongju and the volcanic region of Jeju Island, with highlights including the opportunity to meet with North Korean defectors, temple stays with Buddhist guides and culinary masterclasses with top chefs.
Four options are available: an eight-day ‘Essential South Korea’ itinerary from Seoul to Busan; an 11-day ‘Classic South Korea’ journey, which adds a stop in Gyeongju; a 10-day culinary-focused ‘Taste of South Korea’ programme; and a 15-day ‘South Korea In Depth’ tour covering Seoul, Busan, Gyeongju and Jeju.
Elsewhere in Asia, Red Savannah has debuted a new itinerary in Java, Indonesia, as an alternative destination to Bali.
The 12-day ‘Islands and Highlands of Java’ itinerary will visit rice terraces and temples in the Magelang Highlands and offer island hopping and snorkelling in Karimunjawa, along with coffee plantation hikes, traditional village visits and turtle sanctuary trips.
An ‘In the Footsteps of Frida Kahlo’ itinerary in Mexico has also been added to coincide with an exhibition of the painter’s works at the Tate Modern in June 2026.
The 12-day itinerary will traverse Mexico City, Oaxaca and Tehuantepec, with VIP access to Museo Casa Kahlo, La Casa Azul and the Diego Rivera Mural Museum. Guests will also be able to try traditional weaving with a local family, authentic mezcal tasting and a Frida-inspired private dinner.
All new itineraries are available to book now.
