Hotel group Experimental has acquired countryside property Quinta da Comporta in Portugal.
The addition continues Experimental’s “strategic plans for growth in the Portuguese market”, following its recent acquisition of Hotel Infante Sagres in Porto, which will reopen under the group name this autumn.
Quinta da Comporta in Comporta’s coastal Troia Peninsula region houses 60 rooms, suites and pool villas, along with a restaurant inspired by traditional Portuguese cuisine.
The hotel places an emphasis on wellness, with the six-treatment-room Oryza Spa featuring a hammam, sauna and heated indoor-outdoor pool.
Set among rice fields, with beaches, dunes and villages nearby, the hotel is situated an hour and 20 minutes south of Lisbon.
Experimental said the hotel would not be renamed following the acquisition, with respect to the “identity, architecture and spirit of Quinta da Comporta”.
The brand labelled Comporta “one of the most desirable destinations in Europe”, particularly for its “sustainable hotel projects” which are part of the brand’s “strategic vision”.
Experimental is also set to open Experimental Roma in 2026, bringing its portfolio to 15 European properties by the end of the year.
