Beachfront resort becomes hotel group’s second Malaysia location
The Desaru Coast beachfront resort in Johor, Malaysia is due to join the Mandarin Oriental portfolio this month.
The location sits within 128 acres of rainforest on 17 kilometres of beachfront.
The resort currently features 44 suites and villas, with Mandarin Oriental planning to open a further 40 branded residences.
The rooms all have views of the sea or rainforest, and many feature private gardens and plunge pools.
Five dining options are available at the resort, including a beach club and a coastal lounge bar.
Mandarin Oriental will be opening a new spa providing wellness treatments, a beauty salon, yoga pavilion, fitness centre, and tennis and padel courts.
The resort provides access to the nearby Els Club Desaru Coast golf course, with an 18- and 27-hole course on offer.

The resort will unveil a full Mandarin Oriental rebrand in January 2026.
