Caribbean resort operator has appointed global leadership team to lead expansion
Saint Lucian wellness hotel brand BodyHoliday is set to open its first European property in 2029 with BodyHoliday Algarve.
The hotel on Portugal’s eastern Algarve coast will feature 175 rooms and five dining spaces set among 26 acres of gardens.
There will also be a 40,000sq ft wellness space with a fitness complex, more than 40 treatment rooms, multiple pools, Fifa-standard football pitch, and tennis and padel courts. The brand’s signature health and fitness programmes will also be on offer.
Andrew Barnard, chief executive of BodyHoliday’s parent company SunSwept Resorts, said: “From windsurfing and trail running to yoga and nutrition, we’ve always believed that true wellness should feel intuitive, rooted in body awareness rather than routine. It’s about longevity through personalisation, not prescription.
“Our expansion into Portugal embodies that same philosophy: creating an oasis that invites guests to rediscover joy, reignite passion and restore balance. We’re thrilled to bring our award-winning holistic approach to Portugal’s breathtaking coastline.”
To lead this expansion, the company has appointed a global leadership team including Indu Brar, chief operating officer and former general manager across Fairmont Hotels & Resorts; chief financial officer Jean-Charles Denis from IHG Hotels & Resorts; and project director Kevin Bundy, whose experience includes developing the Soho House brand in Europe.
New chairman Jeremy Plummer said: “This marks a pivotal chapter in BodyHoliday’s story. With an exceptional leadership team at the helm, we are honouring a proud legacy while shaping the next generation of transformative wellness destinations.”
