Train’s maiden voyage to Wales scheduled for July 21
The Britannic Explorer, A Belmond Train, will embark on its maiden voyage on July 21.
The train will offer a series of three-night journeys from London Victoria Station to Cornwall, the Lake District and Wales. The service marks England and Wales’ first sleeper train.
The Britannic Explorer will travel to Wales for its first journey on July 21, with guests enjoying valley hikes, lavender farm tours and art classes. The train will then journey to Cornwall on July 25, where highlights will include coastal sailing and yoga sessions.
A total of 18 suites are on board the eight-carriage train, including three grand suites with “traditional yet modern” interiors from design studio Albion Nord.
The train also houses a Wellness Suite, offering guests spa treatments in partnership with skincare brand Wildsmith.
The restaurant car will host a seasonal menu curated by Simon Rogan – head chef and owner of multiple restaurants including three-Michelin-starred L’Enclume.
The Britannic Explorer’s general manager Hendrik Huebner said: "The launch of the Britannic Explorer, A Belmond Train, marks a pivotal moment, forging a new chapter in British rail innovation. Offering the ultimate luxury on rails, our guests will discover a new perspective on contemporary Britain."
A three-night journey on board the Britannic Explorer starts at £11,000 for a double cabin, including excursions, meals, wine and alcoholic beverages.
Guests can extend their journey with a pre or post-stay at The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel, London, which is located 20 minutes from London Victoria Station.
Belmond said the Britannic Explorer marked a “significant expansion” of its UK portfolio of trains and hotels, which includes the British Pullman and Royal Scotsman trains and two-Michelin-starred hotel and restaurant Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, A Belmond Hotel, Oxfordshire.
