New lobby and 13 redesigned suites introduced under phase one of plan
Hotel Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel in Venice has unveiled the first phase of an extensive renovation.
The refurbishment has introduced a new double-height lobby adjacent to the existing lobby, featuring a light-filled design and traditional Venetian architecture.\
Out of the hotel’s 79 rooms and suites, 13 have been transformed, including 11 new suites and junior suites featuring private balconies overlooking the Casanova Gardens.
Two master suites have also been redesigned to emulate Venetian apartments, complete with dining rooms, libraries and salons, along with views over the Venetian Lagoon.
The new-look hotel – located on Giudecca Island, facing St Mark’s Square – also now features a curated selection of artworks inspired by pieces from the 1950s and 1960s when the hotel first opened, alongside contemporary pieces.
The renovation was overseen by architect, interior designer and chairman of the Venetian Heritage Foundation, Peter Marino.
"Since its opening, Hotel Cipriani has been a stage for the Italian ‘Dolce Vita’, a place where timeless glamour meets relaxed luxury,” Marino said.
“I am honoured to redesign the future of this unique hotel, a place of fond personal memories. The world’s great artists, actors, singers and society all mingled at this very special place, and my goal is to rekindle that magic.”
