Location: Leafy trees and apricot-hued buildings form the backdrop to Arev, found just a five-minute walk from Saint Tropez village, home to designer boutiques, a world-famous market and a superyacht-studded harbour. This is a destination synonymous with glamour, and Arev fits right in.
First impressions: This hotel is undeniably chic, something it makes known from the moment you arrive. We pull onto the pebbled driveway and are greeted by what looks more like a lavish villa than a hotel. The building’s exterior is cloaked in a classic Provence-style shade of cream, with pale blue shutters on the windows and a canopy above the entrance clad in one of Arev’s signature colour pairings: white and navy. This sets the scene for what awaits inside, which is an open-plan restaurant and bar space showcasing the property’s old-school nautical theme: model boats are dotted around, blue and white stripes adorn the walls, and the sofa cushions are reminiscent of naval flags.
The facts: New kid on the block Arev launched in May last year and is one of the only hotels in Saint Tropez to remain open past the peak summer season and throughout winter. There were 24 rooms when I was there, but construction took place at the end of 2024 to add a further 11, each elegantly designed around a colour scheme of blue, white and red, with quirky touches such as geometric wallpaper and patterned armchairs. The Hamptons-esque pool area is as stylish as they come, with striped parasols and loungers topped with Arev-branded towels uniformly arranged around the water and bar. Inside, the hotel has revived one of the region’s most iconic restaurants from days gone by: The Strand serves fresh seafood and other riviera classics, as well as signature cocktails and wines recommended by the sommelier.
Ideal for: Couples and groups of friends will love the fun vibe here, and the hotel is ideally located for sampling Saint Tropez’s famed collection of bars and beach clubs.
Explore: Discovering the village and its boutiques and waterfront restaurants is a must, particularly on Tuesdays and Saturdays when a huge market is erected on the Place des Lices. This 19th-century square is also the place to be for a game of pétanque, which the team at Arev can organise for guests.
Wow: The olive oil tasting we enjoy in the Place des Oliviers courtyard is a standout memory. The hotel’s name takes inspiration from a rève, the French translation of a ‘dream’, and it definitely lives up to its title.
Book it: Nightly rates for a Deluxe Room in peak season ( June to August) start from €1,500.
