White Desert upgrades flagship Antarctica camp

Specialist operator White Desert has made a raft of upgrades to its flagship Antarctica camp for the 2025/26 season. 

Each of the six polar pods at Whichaway has been expanded to include an en suite shower and glass-fronted conservatory – an additional space designed to enhance guest’s viewing experience.

The camp, located in the Schirmarcher Oasis, sleeps 12 guests and features a wellness dome with a Finnish sauna, and a private chef. Guided experiences are available onsite, including glacier hikes and ice climbing. 

White Desert founder Patrick Woodhead said: "Taking inspiration from the northern lights, we wanted our guests to better experience how the sunlight changes here throughout the day and night. The glass conservatory allows them to watch the subtle changes in hue – blue to orange – from the comfort of their bed.”

Prices start at $71,500 per person for a six-day tour, including return flights and transfers from Cape Town to Antarctica, all accommodation, food and beverages, and activities.

The upgrades at Whichaway come after the operator announced its expansion into South America, with a series of itineraries in its new Dr Jones Collection including Peru and Patagonia.
