Openings in Marbella and the Algarve mark ‘significant milestone’ for Hilton’s luxury brands
Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts and Conrad Hotels & Resorts are scheduled to open new properties across Spain and Portugal, marking a “significant milestone” for parent company Hilton’s luxury brands.
Waldorf Astoria Marbella (pictured) is expected to launch in 2029, marking the brand’s debut in Spain.
The property will feature 120 rooms and 120 branded residences, as well as indoor and outdoor pools, two restaurants, a spa and fitness centre.
Bringing together Waldorf Astoria’s “signature service and contemporary luxury”, the hotel joins the brand’s portfolio of more than 65 properties, including upcoming openings in London and Morocco.
Chris Nassetta, Hilton president and chief executive, said: “This signing represents another important step in our strategy to expand Hilton’s luxury portfolio globally, which now includes more than 550 trading hotels - from the legendary Waldorf Astoria New York to Conrad Hamburg and Waldorf Astoria Osaka.
“I look forward to Waldorf Astoria Marbella welcoming guests in 2029, with the hotel set to offer elegant service and unforgettable experiences for generations to come.”
Elsewhere on the Iberian Peninsula, Conrad Meia Praia Algarve is scheduled to open in spring 2027.
The Portuguese property will offer 116 rooms and suites, including seven with private plunge pools, and 21 branded residences. Amenities include two restaurants, a beach club, indoor and outdoor pools, and a spa.
Guests will have easy access to Meia Praia beach as well as Lagos town, which is a short drive away.
Dan Wakeling, Hilton’s vice-president of development, luxury and residential for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said, “Conrad Meia Praia Algarve represents a key milestone in Hilton’s luxury growth strategy across Europe.
“This exceptional beachfront resort will add to our expanding range of Conrad properties across the region and offer guests a new way to experience a luxury stay in one of Portugal’s most popular destinations.”
