The Lux Collective makes Rwanda debut with double opening

The Lux Collective has opened two properties in Rwanda, marking the group’s debut in the destination.

Lux Lake Kivu offers 13 suites and one private villa in western Rwanda on the shores of Lake Kivu, which is known for its birdwatching.

As well as water excursions, wellness rituals and locally inspired dining, guests will have access to a range of Lux Extraordinary Experiences, including a hike on Napoleon Island and a boat trip to the surrounding isles.

Other activities on offer include a full day of gorilla trekking at Volcanoes National Park and a journey through Rwanda’s coffee heritage.

The property’s dining offering includes international restaurant Cleo, lakeside eatery Riva and cafe and bar Maison Lux. There is also a space for sunrise yoga and Lux Me Spa.

The second opening, Salt of Akagera (pictured), is set within Akagera National Park, which is the only reserve in Rwanda home to the big five. 

The 60-key lodge encourages “conscious travel”, with seasonal menus and a zero-waste, farm-to-table culinary philosophy.

Signature experiences on offer for guests include nights beneath the stars and a behind-the-scenes insight into Akagera National Park’s conservation efforts.

The opening marks the Salt brand’s first-ever safari property.

The properties are the first two hotels within The Lux Collective’s five-resort Rwanda Tourism Circuit, with three further lodges set to open in 2028 across Volcanoes National Park, Nyungwe National Park and Akagera National Park.
