Additions mark ‘strategic milestone’ for Italian group
R Collection Hotels has unveiled plans to add two Lake Como properties to its portfolio, marking “a major step in its continued expansion”.
The group will resume management of two centrally located Lake Como hotels that are currently owned by R Collection and operated by the Villa d’Este Group.
Both properties will undergo a renovation before reopening in 2027.
The Palace Hotel will be upgraded from four to five stars, while the refurbishment programme for Hotel Excelsior will be finalised in the coming months.
The openings represent a “strategic milestone” for R Collection, marking its first outposts in the city of Como.
To support this next phase of growth, Riccardo Bortolotti has been appointed as area general manager for Como and will oversee both new properties.
Bortolotti’s former role of general manager at Grand Hotel Bristol Spa Resort will be assumed by the property’s current hotel manager Ivan Parodi.
The group’s owner and brand director, Ludovica Rocchi, said: “These developments mark an exciting new chapter for R Collection Hotels.
“Our entry into the Como market and the appointment of two highly accomplished managers demonstrate our commitment to sustainable growth, internal talent development and the consistent delivery of exceptional Italian hospitality.”
