Work on the vessel will begin in May
Crystal is set to commence construction on the first of its two new ships next year, with deliver scheduled for May 2028.
Shipbuilder Fincantieri and the luxury line will mark the start of construction with a steel-cutting ceremony in May 2026 and a keel-laying ceremony in December 2026.
The as-yet-unnamed ship will be the first new-build for the brand in 25 years and under the ownership of Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group.
The name of the new ship will be announced “shortly”, with details about its inaugural cruises and new suite categories to follow by the end of the year.
The 2028 season of sailings is set to go on sale next spring, with a waitlist opening in advance.
Crystal announced it had finalised financing for two new-build luxury ships earlier this year, and that both ships would have capacity for approximately 650 passengers with a gross tonnage of 61,800, aiming to “represent the next generation of luxury cruising”.
A&K Travel Group chief executive Cristina Levis said: “Behind the scenes, our teams have been working diligently on every element of this extraordinary project - from design and craftsmanship to technical innovation.
“These milestones represent more than construction progress; they are a testament to our shared commitment with Fincantieri to deliver the most exceptional ship at sea, on schedule and with an unparalleled attention to detail.”
