Beckons to open new lodge near Uluru

Luxury lodge collection Beckons has unveiled plans to open a new property within Australia’s Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

The nine-suite lodge will offer unobstructed views of Uluru from its restaurant, bar and lounge, becoming the “closest luxury accommodation” to the sandstone formation.

The as-yet-unnamed lodge will mark the brand’s first new-build since it launched in March after boutique hotel group Baillie Lodges merged with its sister company Tierra Hotels.

Plans for the property were approved following ecological, heritage and sacred sites assessments and consultation with the land’s Traditional Custodians.

The lodge is projected to open in early 2028, with a specific launch date yet to be confirmed.

Chief executive Michael Crawford said: “One of the world’s most powerful and spiritually significant landscapes, Uluru-Kata Tjuta is an extraordinary place to deepen our presence in Australia and grow our global footprint.

“At Beckons, the most memorable journeys create a genuine connection to place. Here, that means personally guided experiences that reveal the ancient stories of country and sky, and the living heritage of this remarkable landscape.”

The project marks “an exciting next chapter” in Beckons’ global growth strategy, joining the brand’s other Australian properties Southern Ocean Lodge, Longitude 131°, Capella Lodge, Silky Oaks Lodge, and The Louise.

Beckons also operate Huka Lodge in New Zealand, Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge in Canada, and Tierra Atacama and Tierra Patagonia in Chile, with plans to bring “its signature luxury lodge experience” to new destinations across other continents.
