New vessels are expected to be delivered by 2030
AmaWaterways has expanded its European orderbook with the addition of eight new ships as a result of “strong demand” from passengers.
The new vessels are scheduled to be delivered by 2030 and will take the company’s global fleet to more than 40 ships, doubling its size since 2020.
The luxury operator said the expansion would allow it to “continue to set the standard for immersive river cruising in Europe” as it committed to “work closely with its community of travel partners”.
More details on the new ships will be announced in the coming months.
So far this year, AmaWaterways has added three ships to its fleet.
AmaMagdalena and AmaMelodia launched on the Magdalena River in Colombia, marking a first for the river cruise sector, while AmaSintra started sailing on the Douro River in Portugal.
AmaWaterways chief executive Catherine Powell said: “Our expanding fleet is a direct response to the strong demand from guests eager to discover river cruising and Europe’s beautiful rivers
"These new ships represent exciting opportunities for our valued travel partners and us to grow together.
“With each new ship, we will continue to sail our guests to the heart of every destination while delivering the high-touch service, elegant design, and immersive experiences that define AmaWaterways."
