Priority areas were identified by a staff survey across the group’s five brands
Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group (AKTG) has renewed its sustainability goals across its global operations in an effort to “create meaningful change in the communities [it] serves”.
Key areas for improvement were identified following a survey of the group’s workforce across its five brands: Abercrombie & Kent; Cox & Kings; Crystal; A&K Sanctuary; and Ecoventura.
The new approach combines two group-wide priorities that support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These are quality education and zero hunger.
Alongside these core targets, each site has selected additional SDGs that reflect local priorities, including good health and wellbeing, and decent work and economic growth.
Camille Drevillon, chief strategy officer for AKTG, said: “This initiative represents the collective voice of our global team and our commitment to responsible luxury travel.
“By aligning our sustainability efforts with a mature and proven framework, we’re ensuring that our impact extends far beyond exceptional travel experiences to create meaningful change in the communities we serve, and in our daily lives.”
The updated goals build on the work of AKTG’s non-profit organisation A&K Philanthropy, which already supports initiatives aligned with the new sustainability strategy.
These include providing a school lunch programme that delivers meals to students in underserved communities, supporting girls’ education in Peru, and helping fund school infrastructure and teacher training in Cambodia and Uganda.
