The new retreat in Moab is expected to open in 2027
Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group is set to expand its A&K Sanctuary portfolio with a new property in Utah.
The retreat is scheduled to open in 2027 at the gateway to the Arches and Canyonlands National Parks in Moab.
There will be a mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom standalone suites, with capacity for a maximum of 40 guests. The property will also feature a central lodge, spa and private trails through the surrounding desert.
Guests will be able to partake in hiking, biking and rafting excursions, as well as scenic drives and photography classes.
A&K Travel Group’s chief executive Cristina Levis said: “Moab is a place of awe-inspiring natural beauty and limitless potential for meaningful exploration. It already captivates millions with its dramatic landscapes and adventurous spirit.
“What we are creating is something that complements that energy, a new kind of retreat that invites travellers to engage with this setting in a deeper, more soulful way. It is an evolution of A&K’s ethos of ‘adventure by day, luxury by night’, brought to life in the heart of the American West.”
The news follows the rebrand of Sanctuary Retreats to A&K Sanctuary at the end of last year.
As well as the launch of the new Moab property, A&K Sanctuary’s portfolio of 13 safari lodges and four riverboats will see a wave of developments over the coming months.
Existing properties Gorilla Forest Lodge in Uganda and Baines’ Lodge in Botswana are currently being rebuilt, with completion scheduled for later this year. The operator’s Peruvian Amazon vessel, Pure Amazon, is also set to launch in 2025.
Another new property, Kitirua Plains Lodge in Kenya’s Amboseli region, will join the collection in 2026. There is also a new group of properties in development across Mexico, as well as feasibility studies underway in Australia and South America.
