Move will allow operator to access South America’s ‘most extraordinary and remote’ destinations
Abercrombie & Kent (A&K) has acquired Bolivia-based DMC Crillon Tours, expanding the company’s global network of operations to 83 countries.
The deal will allow the luxury tour operator to offer itineraries and hotels across Bolivia, including excursions to the world’s highest navigable lake and largest salt desert, as well as properties on Lake Titicaca.
A&K will invest in the newly acquired assets to “elevate them to A&K Sanctuary standards” and add its own products and experiences to “complement Crillon Tours’ existing portfolio”.
Cristina Levis, chief executive of Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group (AKTG), said: “Bolivia represents one of South America’s most extraordinary frontiers, with landscapes and experiences that are truly irreplaceable.
“This acquisition reflects our commitment to expanding access to the world’s most remarkable destinations while maintaining the authentic connections and local expertise that define exceptional travel.”
Darius Morgan, Crillon Tours’ vice-president, added: “Joining AKTG allows us to showcase our extraordinary landscapes to discerning travellers worldwide, while maintaining the local expertise and cultural connections that make our experiences truly unique.”
The expansion complements A&K’s existing South American portfolio, which includes recently launched Peru-based riverboat Pure Amazon and the Ecoventura expedition yachts in the Galápagos Islands.
Crillon Tours joins A&K’s other recently added DMCs in Copenhagen and Mexico.
