Journey Beyond to introduce new suites across luxury train portfolio 

Australis and Aurora suites will feature on The Ghan, Indian Pacific and Great Southern

Specialist Australia operator Journey Beyond will unveil two new suitesonboard its luxury trains in April 2026. 

 

The Ghan, Indian Pacific and Great Southern will each introduce an additional carriage, housing the Australis and Aurora suites. 

 

The Australis Suite will be three times the size of a Platinum cabin – the current top category across the brand’s luxury train portfolio – while the Aurora Suite will be double the size.

 

Both suites will feature a separate bedroom, living area, bar and ensuite bathroom.

 

Led by global design firm Woods Bagot, interiors will “embody art deco luxury while capturing a true sense of the Outback and authentic landscapes through which [Journey Beyond’s] trains traverse”. 

 

Guests will have access to butler service, in-room dining and the Platinum Club lounge and dining carriage, as well as unlimited Bollinger champagne and premium Australian wines. 

 

Journey Beyond chief executive Chris Tallent said: “A new level of luxury awaits guests in 2026 and we are excited to launch the new suites that set the highest standard of luxury train travel in Australia and internationally. A moving luxury like no other, the suites are unrivalled and further elevate Journey Beyond’s portfolio of luxury accommodation and experiences in Australia.” 

 

He added: “As demand for international travel continues to surge, we recognise the necessity to enhance the travel experience, ensuring it meets and surpasses global standards.” 

 

Prices start from $11,890 per person for the Australis Suite and $7,990 per person for the Aurora Suite for a three-day journey on The Ghan.
